Having several other TTTE trains for my 2.5 yr old and avoided the dual carriage trains as the online reviews weren’t good for those type, i expected better. The battery will not stay in a place where it will work. I’ve cobbled something together but really i shouldn’t have to. On the plus side though the service was ok.

I bought this toy for my young daughter who is an avid fan of Thomas the Tank Engine, to add to her collection. She was really pleased with it. You just have to be careful when putting the carriages together & taking them apart as it can be a bit tricky for little hands. Delivery was quick. Would buy again.

I thought I ought to give this toy a good review as seeing a one star review might put people off for no real reason (in my opinion). Like all the TrackMaster engines, there isn’t a lot an adult would get excited about apart from the fact that their toddlers will love them. Being such a simple design Toby is a better representation of the ‘real’ Toby than most of the engines are.

The only thing I don’t like about Toby, which would apply to all the TrackMaster engines and carriages, is the couplings. I can understand that there has to be a trade off between durability and ease of use and I don’t think they’ve really got it right. They are certainly durable but then they have to be considering the effort needed to separate them. My toddler can’t join them at the moment and I find them fiddly myself.

I’ve often thought it would be nice, and also trivial, to have a reverse on the engines. However pushing trains back by the engine (instead of pulling the last truck) tends to derail the trucks so maybe they made the right call. On the other hand remote control Thomas has a reverse so it can’t always be a problem.
